Brewing Sunday 8/10/08

Postby redtail28 » Wed Aug 06, 2008 7:03 pm

I'm planning an AG brew Sunday 8/10/08. Its clone recipe of
"Moose Drool" made by big Sky Brewery it's a hoppy
“American Brown Aleâ€￾. This is the 2nd brew on my HERMS system.
I made some changes in the mash tun by adding a false bottom.
Plans are to give it a test run tomorrow.
I would like to invite any club member to attend to help or watch.
Plans are to start the brewing Sunday morning about 9:30am.
Please post or PM me if you are planning to stop by.

PS: Bring beer :)

Well i was wrong about the beer.
This from the web site

It's chocolate brown in color with a creamy texture. A malty beer with just enough hop presence to keep it from being too sweet. The aroma mostly comes from the malt with a hint of spice added by the hops. Moose Drool is brewed with pale, caramel, chocolate, and whole black malts; and Kent Goldings, Liberty, and Willamette hops. It has an original gravity of 13 degrees Plato, and is 4.2% alcohol by weight, 5.3% by volume.

Well Sunday was a lot of fun. Red showed up at 9:30
With a 6 pk of Shiner Hefeweizen or so they call it. He said it
Was 12:00 somewhere, you know he was right.
I was cracking my grain with a hand crank man did get a
Good laugh out of that.

I like to thank Gene (yeastmeister), Zeke (ZEEBOZ), Brandon, Red, James (triple006) and a close
Friend Rocky. Thanks for all of your help and support I owe ya’ll one.
Well my HERMS system work great. NO stuck mash, didn’t over shoot
The mash temp, over all it went well, funny looking back, I forgot
To add the whirlfloc and yeast nutrients. I pitch Safale 05
At about 6:30 and by morning both carboy where showing
Signs of fermentation. I have my temp controller set at 62 and with
The 3 to 4 degree swing it’s between 59 and 64 at its highest.

Today is Tuesday here's a picture of the brew
