Reminder - AHA Big Brew is May 7th!

Postby yeastmeister » Wed Apr 27, 2011 5:23 am

May 7, 2011 – AHA Big Brew Day (DYS Club Brew Day) | Marcello’s (10AM)

We need to start planning. We have a meeting prior to that, but this is a reminder to keep the date open.

Here is the link to the recipes that we are supposed to make, of course, we aren't really obligated to make any or all of them, as long as we brew something.

Also, remember that we have almost an entire sack of crushed victory malt to use. Any ideas?

A victory-malt based IIPA or IPA?

I could possibly bring my stuff and brew. But I'm committed to making a Belgian dark/strong ale, have all the ingredients and am making the starter soon.

How about a modern recreation of George Washington's original beer recipe?

Can we get a list of who is bringing what?

I'm bringing the Kettle, mashtun, chiller and propane and grains and hops for the club brew. We still need a club burner. Does anyone have a burner they could bring that we could use?

We also need things like a hose, water filter, a grain mill, tables, tents, etc. Anyone have a carboy we can use to let it ferment at Marcello's? They sort of like that, and it lets folks see the process.

Looks like its going to be a nice day. Highs in the 80's, lows in the 60's, lots of sun, and a zero percent chance of rain.

We are brewing the IPA for the club brew, but if anyone else wants to bring their system, and brew anything else, there will be plenty of help there.

I have a carboy we can use. Do you need one or two?

I suppose I can bring my little burner. Can someone bring a small pit? Or are we going back to the old days where we had to walk across the street and buy food?

Just 1 carboy, we are only brewing 5 gallons of IPA for the club, The English's are showing up I believe to brew a belgian for himself, and anyone else is welcome. The more the merrier. But we are only leaving 5 gallons to ferment at Marcellos.

Depends on how much participation we get. Currently, I only count 2 brews, 1 all grain club brew, and the English's personal brew. If we have anyone that wants to brew the club brew on other equipment, we can do a kit on the club equipment. But then we would need another carboy as well.
