Best Pub

Postby Wombatpix » Fri Jan 07, 2011 5:19 pm

Looking to see what people find as the best Pub in Lafayette, La. Must have good selection of beers (both bottle and draft) and decent food. I don't really care if the facility is a dive or dump as all I'm looking for is both quality beer and food.

The Shed had a very good selection of bottle beer the last time I was there. (The best I know of in Lafayette, anyway.) I thought the food was pretty good and they have live music some nights. If you go there, try the potato salad and let me know what you think. The beans are suppose to be awesome too, but I haven't tried them yet.

Gene and I visited Fat Pat's last night. The burgers and dogs were not bad, a little pricey. The french fries were very soggy with no flavor what so ever. I have to state their beer selection sucks, and their idea of a special is pretty sad. We opted to get the 2 for 1 Amberbock draft for $4.25. We were stunned when they were delivered in 10 oz glasses with about 1/2 inch missing off the top.
Still have to say Pete's is my best choice so far for mix of food and beer at decent prices (although you can only get bottles).

I agree with regards to Fat Pat's. I went there for lunch and the hamburger was just OK and much better at Pete's. I don't remember the beer selection being good but non-existing. Honestly I don't want to drink a Michelob. We went to Don's Seafood last night and thankfully they have at least LA31 on tap for 4.5 a pint.

Fat Pats suck"s $8.95 for a hot dog someone must
of hit there head when they woke up that morning
When i was there I didn't drink beer so not sure of the section

I think a good pub should have a good varitey of finger foods.
Potatos skins ,fried pickles, freid jalapeno home made chips, fries
meat pies for starters.

I think Pete's stands out ahead of other bars/pubs is because the lack
of a better place.

Maybe i should shut up a open a pub! LOL
