Racking / Aging question

So after talking to people at the meeting Teus, decided to rack my mead for bulk aging, but after racking, the jug it is in is only like 3/5 full. I was wondering if so much airspace is an oxidation issue sice I'm aging it so long and the mead is still. Anyone?

No worries, I do mine the same way. There is still some co2 remaining in the solution, wine and mead should be degassed to help it clear, some is always coming out of solution, and should leave a blanket over the top since its being left undisturbed. Once its degassed, there should still be a layer on top from the degassing procedure.

Mind you, I'm making all this up, but it sounds reasonable. As I say, I've been making mead and wine for a while not, and not had any problems.
