Watch out, you might offend someone!

First it was Santa's Butt, now it's Witche's Wit. It seems to me that there are all kinds of offensive names and labels for wines, but when it comes to beers people have a hissy fit. I agree there are certain taboos, but I think this is taking it a bit far.

My ancestor was the very first Zombie ever, and I'm getting really upset with the way that Hollywood portrays Zombies as ignorant people with no desire whatsoever to better themselves. They are NOT ignorant. They're just hungry. I think that's something we can all understand, right? Maybe even feel some compassion for?
What kind of messed up world do we live in where a poor, homeless, infected Zombie is persecuted for feeding on a few hapless individual who (let's face it) just weren't quick enough to escape? Not the kind of world I wanna live in, folks, you can be sure!
That's why I have created the new organization, Stop The Unfair Persecution of Infected Denizens, or STUPID. I encourage all of you to become STUPID members as well. My dream is to live in a STUPID world, where Zombie Persecution does not go unnoticed by the general public anymore! Will you stand with me against these atrocities?
Right now, I'd also like to recognize another organization who is doing great work these days. They are 'Don't Unfairly Molest or Belittle Abominable Snowmen from Space'. These are the sort of DUMBASS's that we need in our STUPID organization! Congrats you DUMBASS's, on your hard work, and I sincerely hope that your DUMBASS organization grows and prospers, and that your already large population of DUMBASS members continues to steadily grow.

I hate to see a beer company toss a label based on such foolishness. I think the label is pretty cool and ties in well with the name of the beer. Our country has been Politically Corrected to death, and every little thing has become an offense to someone. Just ridiculous.

I think I find Trip's response more offensive than the label. I do think it is probably a bit much to show a murder in progress on the label. However, I don't think it's really something to get your undies bunched up about either.
Any minority group that is that thin-skinned just really needs a home brew or six.
There are still cases of witches being persecuted in the US, but nearly all of them occur here in the South, not in California. Still, when someone burns your house to the ground because of your religious beliefs, you start to wonder if there isn't a need for a Wiccan Al Qaeda.

Umm, the whole thing about how witches don't exist, and how the woman on the label is not your ancestor. Granted the vast majority of women who were executed as witches were widows of crusaders who had possession of land that the church coveted for itself and therefore took it by accusing those widows of witchcraft. However, there were a few village wise folk who also ran afoul of the witch hunters.
As far as witches not existing, well, recent archeological finds in western China have revealed the mummified remains of a Keltic woman who was virtually undisputably a witch by the standards of the folklore. that shows that much of the trappings of current witches as well as many of their rituals were already in place 5,000 years ago when that woman was buried.
I grant that modern Wicca was invented by Gerald Gardner in the late 1940s. However, since that time, much research has been done, and many hidden groups have come forward. Some descended of the original witchcraft traditions, some not. so yes witches DO exist, and have for some time. Right now the various groups and peoples claiming to be witches have vastly differing ideas about what that really is. But there is definitely a thread or two connecting some of them to the witches of the far distant past.

Sorry if I offended you Aleguy, I didn't think I would actually offend someone with my statements. It's removed, I'm not going to get into an argument about religion or politics.

Trip, that last post offends me even more.
and Redtail, I don't think a lone crusader would fall in the woods, so no, his beer doesn't spill.

Maybe he tripped over a tree root?

Not the lone crusader. Even if he did fall, he wouldn't allow any beer to spill.
