Hop rhizomes are back!

Postby yeastmeister » Tue Mar 11, 2008 5:55 pm

I just got an email from freshops.com stating that the 2008 rhizomes are now available. If your interested in growing some hops, now is the time to get them. With all the hype about the hops shortage, I expect them to sell out quickly. I've ordered from these people before, and had all 7 rhizomes they sold me sprout.

I just managed to order an Ultra rhizome to go along with my currently planted 1 year old: Magnum, Challenger, Nugget, Pearle, Hallertauer, Fuggles, and Sunbeam. Keeping my fingers crossed for a nice harvest this year. I'm set on hops for 2008, but hopefully that will keep me set for 2009 as well. Shame grain isn't as easy to grow as hops are.

grain is easy to grow it just takes a helluva lot of room. Anyway, it's the malting that's the real problem. I suppose you could use a coffee roaster, but I kind of think you'd end up with some really dark malt.
