Bulk Grain Order Time?

Postby yeastmeister » Tue Mar 31, 2009 7:47 am

Ok guys, I'm in some desperate need of Pilsner and Munich. I'm sure others are in the same situation with other grains. The RedStick guys are stocked up at the moment, so it looks like its up to us.

Check out the Country Malt Group pricing here:
http://www.countrymaltgroup.com/pdf/2008_HomeBrewCatalog.pdf

From past experience, I can tell you that those prices are close to what you will wind up getting, usually within 10 cents or so, sometimes higher, sometimes lower. It depends on the day we order I guess.

Its gonna cost $209 to get a full pallet down here on a truck with a lift gate. Thats a $160 charge for the truck, a 15% fuel surcharge on that 160, and then $25 extra for a lift gate truck. Anything from 1 to 40 sacks can fit on a pallet. So the more we order as a group, the cheaper the shipping is.

This is the official thread to see how many people we have that are interested. Check out the link, and make a post stating what you want. Please, only 1 post per person with quantities. If you want to add more, or remove something, edit your existing post.

We need to decide what the minimum order will be for us to proceed. At 20 sacks, it will be a little over $10 per sack in shipping. The higher we go, the less per sack.

Thanks.

Total Sacks so far : 23.5 (+8 more from Redstick with the possibility of 2 additional) = 32 sacks

Now that"s a total of
6 -- HF101 -pilsen
3 -- HF-501-20 Munich
1 -- HF 201 Pale malt
1 -- B503 Caramel malt I (30-40)
1 -- B201 Munich
1 -- B201-D Dark Munich
3 -- B601 Wheat
3 -- 2060 2-Row Pale Ale (Canada Malting Co.)
1 -- HF 301 - Vienna Malt
2 -- HT 101 MARIS OTTER
1 -- RW1 Unmalted Wheat
.5 --4074 WHEAT MALT (other half claimed by Redstick)

Ok guys, I'm calling it closed, and forwarding it over to the Redstick guys. They have offered to deal with the ordering process again for us since they have such a nice facility thats climate controlled to keep it in, and have a forklift ready, so we don't need to pay the extra money for a lift gate truck.

We will get a final price shortly, and I will email everyone with their portion of the bill. I expect the grain to be here in about a week and a half if it works like last time.

Update:
Just got email from Redstick that they have 16.5 sacks, combined with our 23.5 sacks, that puts us at 40 sacks total, which is as much as we can ship on a pallet. That gives us the cheapest shipping option.

Good job guys! We filled the pallet again.
