Vanilla beans

Gotta try my hand at a vinilla burbon porter. Got beans from fresh market. A bit pricey but could use them for nails. Coach me guys!
How do I use them in an all extract porter kit brew from marcelos.

From what I have read 2 beans in the secondary and 12 oz jim bean
in the prime bucket. Bottle and condition.

Why not put the beans at the end of the boil?

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

You don't want to boil away all your good vanilla flavor. Put them in secondary for two weeks after fermentation is complete. (Make sure you split them in half the long way first.)
I would cut back on the bourbon. Maybe leave it out altogether.
You might want to add some sanitized oak chips to the secondary along with the vanilla beans. And next time try to get some fresher Vanilla beans. They should be supple, not hard. Don't worry. They should work okay, they just will be a lot harder to split.
