Brewday

Today I brewed a 10 gallon batch of Amber. My sorry excuse for an improvised chiller went to hell. I've decided to stop trying to invent something and go with a tried-and-true chiller. Besides that, everything went well. I really want to brew alot more this year and have my all grain setup finished by July (if not sooner).
I also started my first wine today, 6 gallons of Merlot. I'd like to do a few batches a year, but I will definately stay focused on the brew.
Prost,
James

Tell use about your beer. Extract or All grain, hops, what yeast are you using and fermentation temps.

How did you pulloff a brew on a big Monday?

Well no, but I do work in the Clerk of Courts offices of various parishes (which were closed). And since I had no landowners to meet with, I got a day off. My b-day is Thurs. so I'm taking off Fri. as well. Yay 3 day work week!
BTW I had plenty of bubbly airlock action this morning:)

It was an extract. I found a pretty simple recipe and tweaked it a bit. I also got to use some of my homegrown cascade hops. As I do not have a chest freezer,...yet, I've got my fermenters in a plastic container w/ water and wet towels draped around to lower the temp. It stays pretty cold in the spare bedroom anyway.
And the post above this should explain how I brewed on a Mon.

Happy B-day early.
Dean Martin said once that it's not drinking all day that gives
you a hang over. Its when you stop drink when the headaches
start. :D
