Unfortunately I won't have free time to brew anything else.
Looks like I'll only be entering IIPA and Brown Ale.

Next year will be different, we'll have the styles in place well in advance.

I'm thinking that they have some saizons brewed already, that's cool, I just hope there's a few more entries so they have some competition.

Did we ever name this thing?

We need a name, since we are the club creating the comp I think we should get some names, narrow them down (board members maybe), then poll on the forum as a vote.
Just an idea.

We really are running out of time with things like this, oh well I guess everything has to start somewhere.

No, No :? The Bayou Brew-off! 8) You have to develop a better feel for language if you're going to start naming things, Trip.
I had some other names but they are so far back in this thread, I'm not going to look for them. :x

A quick and dirty competition web page is up. Best I can do with the limited internet I have here.

Let me know if I got anything wrong...I'm working through my iphone.

Yeah, it may be too late for a Saison, but Redtail and I are going for it anyway! 8)
He brewed one today and I'm brewing Monday. I may not be a master brewer, but I know a trick or two. At least the DYS will make a showing in this category, even if we don't have a prayer of winning.
I'm a little surprised gene doesn't have some in his huge stash of beer.

Nope, actually, I sort of liked it so much that I drank all of the last one I made. Darn. Well, if you 2 are gonna try it, I guess I will as well using some "super secret" yeastmeister knowledge. Don't worry, as you all know, I'll share the knowledge if it works out. But there is way too much bad information on the net already to share stuff that may not work.

FYI: The yeast in the bottom of North Coast's Saison "Le Merle" is not viable. At least the yeast in the bottle I bought isn't. 48 hours and zero activity. :(
I guess I'll have to use t58, unless Yeastmeister can come up with something by Monday afternoon. Next time I'm culturing a Belgian yeast, it will be from a real Belgian beer. Maybe Chimay or DT.

That's strictly a side comp. between DYS and Red Stick. Bragging rights only. I don't know if there's even an entry fee for that one. It's not an official category, we just chose it because Red Stick has a brewer who has won some awards for Brown, but their Pres. picked Cream Ale  without asking anyone. :?

Nope, no entry fee for the brown, since the prize is bragging rights, and those are priceless.

So, how many bottles, I'm guessing we won't need one for BOS.

Well, did my Saison today. Using the "super secret" yeastmeister stuff. Should be interesting to see if it works. That basically means I'm entering every category once again.
