Louisiana club only competitition

we have a Louisiana club only competition coming up, I talked to the Pres, of the Redsticks and we came to a agreement for a statewide competition, the style will be negotiated soon. There will be only 4 or 5 styles, and we will have a trophy to be held by the winning club. Do you think we are up to it? It should be held in March.

So i need some feedback on styles to go with the redstick guys it will be a compromise they get to pick 50% and so do we

How about gluten free pale ale?
By the way, aren't we supposed to hold a 10a/10b club-only competition about now to find the next "opener?"

come on! We can do way better than that! Anyway, it was just a suggestion, If we could actually make a good tasting gluten-free beer . . .

What the redsticks and us plan on doing is we each pick 3 and then draw from a hat and each club can pick 1 style I choose a lager, Helles dortmunder style 1D 1E.

That's fine Igor, but if you choose a lager, most of the club won't be able to participate. Only a few of us have the equipment necessary for lagering, I'm not one of them, since until recently I had zero interest in brewing anything that requires lagering. Since I learned that Belgian ales need lagering, I'm thinking about it, but it's still a long way off.
Anyway, my point is, if you expect a lot of participation in this competition, you should stick to ales.

look at the pale ale recipe thread I posted a link to a sight that tracks hops and tells you either pellet or leaf and where they are.

I agree that lagers would be a bit unfair.
At least with an ale everybody will have the opportunity to participate.
I vote American Brown.

I had an American brown ale at the last meeting.I still have five gallons
in the carboy thinking of kegging it on oak chips
