Mead Day

Mead day is Saturday, August 3rd. I have been in contact with Miss Emily with the Acadiana Beekeepers' Association, and they are interested in collaborating with us to make some mead. Obviously, this is not so much related to brewing beer, as it is making wine, but some of us are interested in the creation of alcoholic beverages of any type. There are at least three beekeepers that are interested in contributing their honey, and pairing with a brewer for at least a 5 gallon batch of mead each. We are in the process of finding a place where we can meet and make this all happen. Anyone interested?

I can not make it that weekend. I could drop off a bucket to ferment 5 gallons of mead and could take care (nutrients and aging) of it that following Monday.

Could always meet up and do it at Marcello's.

I can donate 2 carboys to age 2 batches of mead and have an Italian Floor Corker, if you want to put some in wine bottles. Also, have a 5-gallon barrel (had whiskey and then Trippel) that we could age some mead in or have some medium toast wood cubes (french and american oak) that I will probably never use up. I never thought about it till you mentioned it at the meeting. If you don't want to use the barrel I have some mead I might want to put in it, just let me know.
