Club Business
The 2013 club membership is due ($25 for individual and $35 for family). The membership form is located on the DYS website. I don't think existing members need to complete the form, just pay dues to Zek or Gene at the meetings. Membership includes the use of club's: book and yeast library, equipment, and the private and members recipe forums. The DYS is a non-profit educational organization and all donations (including membership) to the club are considered Charitable Donations on the 1040 Federal Tax.

DYS sponsored a Sensory Analysis Training and was lead by jimboud. The classes were be held on Tuesday, February 19, Tuesday, Feb. 26 and Monday, March 4 at 6 PM at Cajun Brewing. We had a great turn out and was very informative. More info regarding the kits can be found at Siebel Sensory Kits and here.

The DYS Library has several new books and the list of books can be found here. Reminder to return your borrowed club library books when finished with them.

On April 13, 2013, the Dead Yeast Society (DYS) homebrew club will be hosting the 2013 Louisiana Homebrew Club's Brewing Competition. This a great opportunity for the Louisiana homebrew clubs to get together to discuss homebrew, get immediate feedback on our brewing, and get to know each other. The 2013 Louisiana Homebrew Club's Brewing Competition is open to all brewers and follows Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP) guidelines. Note that the BJCP guidelines have been modified to accept only the listed categories (1, 10, 12, and 15). The judging and awards will be held on Saturday April 13, 2013 at the Cajun Brewing. The event has been registered with the BJCP and the announcements (details and rules) can be found on the DYS forum and the AHA calendar. In addition, we are in need of volunteers for staffing, judging, stewarding, and / or cooking. For volunteering, more information can be found at 2013 Louisiana Homebrew Club's Brewing Competition
