I have broached the subject with the board and recieved no response. Does antone know anything about building/developing mobile apps?
I think the time is right for DYS mobile, and I would like the app to be as useful as possible, beyond just accessing the forums.
I found this, but it doesn't look quite rightnto me:

Anyone?

Also, any ideas on what sort of things we might want to include in the app are welcome. Krausen calculator, hop charts, etc.

Just for everyones information. The forum is running on phpbb2. The current version is phpbb3, but I'm staying at phpbb2 because I have done lots of custom coding for this version that keeps all the scammers off the board. Most times the script kiddies are writing stuff to attack the most recent boards that have not been around long enough for folks to find the errors in them. Notice how we don't have any adds for unwanted stuff? Thats why.

I'm a firm believe in not upgrading something if its not broken.

So be aware that if your looking for a pre-defined app solution, make sure that its compatible with phpbb2, not phpbb3.

I am working on a website using PHP4 and will be using a website to build apps for the main 4 platforms of phones. Phonegap.com will build the asp for you from your web page code. It does not handle PHP but it will execute it on the server side. So if you come up with html files to direct to PHP files on your server that's how it works. Other wise you would need to do each app platform separately.

I have no idea how to make this happen. I assume from your response that your custom coding will not work with the upgraded format. I'm not sure if there is an off the shelf solution for a DYS Mobile app. Right now I'm just trying to explore what is necessary, and what we might want to include as calculators or whatever.

It converts html code or xml to an app. The website can explain it better. Basically it is possible to do with your custom code.
