Marcello's Open for Labor Day?

Postby Sarge_GC » Mon Sep 05, 2011 3:14 pm

I need a blow off tube. Is Marcello's open or anyone know where I can buy a food grade plastic tube of the proper diameter?

Marcello's WAS open, but if all you want is a blow-off tube, Lowe's sells braided vinyl tubing of many different diameters. It's all safe foe potable water supplies and heat resistant, so it should be fine for a blow-off tube. Just soak it in oxyclean when you're done because wort has a habit of seeping in to the cut ends. though you COULD just flame seal the cut ends.

Who needs braided tubing?

Just buy the cheap clear vinyl tubing, it will work, just soak it in star san or iodorphor first.

The braided tubing is rated as food-grade, while the clear vinyl at Lowe's is not. Besides, you can always use it for transferring hot wort as well.
